Awards Assembly - 19.01.24

Today we welcomed Mark Eastwood MP to Grange Moor to help lead our Awards Assembly. After each class had shared work and certificates had been given out, we got to learn all about the work of an MP and the Houses of Parliament. Mark organised the children into a mock parliament and we learned all about 'bobbing' to catch the Speaker's eye to ask a question. We had some great questions from the children who also raised some local issues they would like addressed in Parliament.

Munch returned to school after being missing in action since before Christmas and will be taken home by Faith in Y5 this weekend. Well done!

Star Award winners:

Flora, Arlo, Rosabella, Doug, Thomas and Cerys - all very well deserved!

In other news this week, we were treated to a musical assembly from Jess Taylor, woodwind teacher for Musica Kirklees. She showed and played recorders, flutes, a clarinet and a saxophone and answered questions about each instrument. Parents should have received a letter offering taster lessons which have already proved very popular - please return them asap.

Class Three had another visit from John the History Man - this time to lead a WWII workshop. I walked into the classroom just as they were dismantling a replica rifle! It was a fabulous day which the children really enjoyed.

Y1 and Y2 undertook a Road Safety programme called Street Feet, a very worthwhile time spent in the hall.
